Irene wanted me to write a blog, but I thought I'd try this for a year instead.
Years later, in 2011, I realize that the above no longer makes sense, since I have stopped photographing breakfast and instead occasionally put down random thoughts. These days I photograph our granddaughter's lovely face, paint for fun, knit and teach knitting at an after-school program for girls, and read. Life is good, if a bit slow, but then, so am I.
I bet your book is very interesting, because of the importance salt played in everything. My Dutch last name comes from the people who refined the salt that was found in the salt mines in Germany. My ancestor with that name was German. He settled here in 1648. It's a small world, isn't it? You reading a book about salt and me having that connection.
Wow, 1648! What area were your people from? I'm sure you'd enjoy it! It's out in paperback too. The author is Mark Kurlansky. I'm really enjoying it, all sorts of things I didn't know, and he's a lovely writer, too.
