Irene wanted me to write a blog, but I thought I'd try this for a year instead.
Years later, in 2011, I realize that the above no longer makes sense, since I have stopped photographing breakfast and instead occasionally put down random thoughts. These days I photograph our granddaughter's lovely face, paint for fun, knit and teach knitting at an after-school program for girls, and read. Life is good, if a bit slow, but then, so am I.
Laura dear, if at all possible, I buy everything I eat ready made. I hardly know of any Dutch woman who bakes her own cookies. There is such a large aisle of them in the supermarket. Sometimes people make cakes, but there are such good bakeries that it's almost senseless to do it. The thing is to go to the right shop and buy your goodies there and brag about where you bought them. The same with chocolates.

Oh, I see the berries are all gone again. Well, some days you are lucky...
I am having some cookies now. They are very good, with chocolate on them.
Alas, the berries at Vons are from Chile, and looked reddish and not ripe. I didn't buy any.
Did you bake your cookies or buy them?
