Irene wanted me to write a blog, but I thought I'd try this for a year instead.
Years later, in 2011, I realize that the above no longer makes sense, since I have stopped photographing breakfast and instead occasionally put down random thoughts. These days I photograph our granddaughter's lovely face, paint for fun, knit and teach knitting at an after-school program for girls, and read. Life is good, if a bit slow, but then, so am I.
I envy you your breakfast daily and wish I had an egg poacher, but I think there is no such thing here, because the Dutch don't eat poached eggs. I did by eggs yesterday and will make a two egg omelet, very fluffy. The berries keep looking appealing and the juice looks very thirst quenching. Your coffee looks the best. You know how to breakfast in style, girl. Does Ray do the same?
He doesn't eat so many eggs as I do, and when he does he eats only the whites. Mostly he has steel-cut oats and juice. I can't believe the Dutch don't do poached eggs!
Here's a way to do it without the pan: Line a coffee cup with a piece of clingy plastic wrap. Drop an egg carefully in the plastic and bag it up. Twist off the end so it won't unravel, use a wire twisty if you have one, and drop into boiling water for three minutes. Then pull out with a big slotted spoon and place on a plate. Unwrap the plastic and roll your egg out. You can have poached eggs too!
